Daily Fishing Report Steelhead Alley 4/2

Steelhead Alley is finally shaping up nicely, especially across the small to medium tributaries after getting dumped on with rain over the past week. Medium-sized tributaries like the Rocky, Chagrin, and similar systems are fishing especially well right now, with some of the best flows and visibility we’ve seen in years.

Colder temperatures returned yesterday, dipping below freezing overnight, with a high near 60 expected today—excellent conditions for steady fish movement and ideal presentations.

Reports of fish are still coming in, though it hasn’t been the strongest year for overall numbers due to a mix of factors.

Smallmouth bass should also begin their upstream movements and start staging near river mouths as they prepare to spawn also.

With rain forecasted for tomorrow and Friday, there probably won’t be too many fresh pushes of fish, but conditions should remain very favorable for dropbacks.

Dropbacks should be plentiful, especially in medium tributaries like the Rocky and Chagrin, so anglers covering softer seams, tailouts, and deeper transition water should find consistent action.

Sorry for the absence—the Easter holiday and changing conditions had me step away for the weekend, but we’re back on track now with the latest from the Alley.
