Daily Fishing Report Steelhead Alley 3/18
Conditions across Steelhead Alley are holding steady right now, with flows staying consistent across most of the region. No new rain or bumps in water, so everything is pretty much locked in place.
Temps are the main factor today. Air and water temps have been bouncing around but overall trending down, and you can definitely feel it. Water temps are getting low enough now that fish aren’t going to be as active — a lot of them will start sliding into deeper, slower water to conserve energy.
Clarity is still good across most systems, and guys are still getting into fresh fish, so there are definitely fish around.
The Rocky and Chagrin are still your best bets, but some of the other bigger tribs are starting to come around and should keep improving if things hold like this.
Average Air Temp: ~19–38°F
Average Water Temp: ~32–41°F
With colder water, you’ll want to slow everything down. Fish are doing more holding in pools than actively moving or pushing upstream. Spawn, beads, and egg patterns will still get it done — just focus on slower water and really work it.
Jigs can be really effective right now too if you fish them slow and keep them in the strike zone.
If flows stay where they’re at, fishing should stay consistent and more rivers will keep coming into shape.
Fish on & stay warm 🎣
